Angela is a theatre artist based in Saskatoon. Since graduating from the BFA Acting program at the University of Saskatchewan in 2011, she has acted consistently on professional stages throughout the province, with Persephone Theatre, the Station Arts Centre, and Live Five, among others.
A singer and classically trained pianist, Angela has a particular love for plays with music, especially those that give her an opportunity to learn a new instrument. Coming up, she will be spending the summer at the Station Arts Centre, playing upright bass and piano as Dolly in the gospel/bluegrass musical Tent Meeting.
Also a fledgling playwright, Angela has several new works in various stages of development. Her short play Bear will be produced as part of the Short Cuts Festival this fall. As a member of Persephone Theatre's 16/17 Playwrights' Unit, she has been creating Sawtooth Sky, a play adapted from the diaries of English-Canadian photographer and activist Rosemary Gilliat Eaton. When she should be writing that script, she procrastinates by working on Spite House, The Obituarists, and Charlotte and the Horizon.
Angela is enthusiastic about finding new ways to contribute to and engage with her community. As a co-host of the radio program Mom, I'm a Thespian, she has had the opportunity to interview visiting actors, directors, and playwrights from across Canada, as well as local artists. Mom, I'm a Thespian airs Friday nights at 7pm on CFCR 90.5 fm, and streams live online at cfcr.ca.
